Who Needs Chiropractic? EVERYONE!
Our bodies are constantly undergoing stress that comes from physical, chemical or emotional issues & can cause disruptions to the body’s joints. Nerves may then become pinched thus decreasing the signals they send to the brain, vital organs, & tissues. After time, these decreased signals can cause pain, degeneration, and/or disease.
Why Do I Need Chiropractic?
If a Chiropractic issue is the cause of your pain only treatment by a Chiropractic Physician can return you to health. Painkillers & other solutions can temporarily mask the symptoms, but do not provide long-lasting health.
How Chiropractic Care Works
Chiropractors locate subluxations, and correct them through adjustments. A subluxation occurs when a bone of a joint has moved, causing pinched nerves. Once your chiropractor locates the subluxation, she will use a direct, fast, pain-free thrust (adjustment) to move the bone, thus relieving the pinched nerve, and restoring the function.
Do I Need to Have X-Rays Taken?
I do not require or take x-rays on every patient who walks through the door. I will perform a complete history, and evaluation, if during the history or evaluation I deems it appropriate to perform x-rays I will discuss this with you at length, and refer you to where you can have x-rays taken at a very reasonable rate.
Can I tell if I have a subluxation without consulting a chiropractor?
Not always. A subluxation is like a dental cavity – you may have it for a long time before symptoms appear. That’s why periodic checkups are so important although it may be possible to know you have a subluxation it is rarely possible to be sure you don’t. An occasional chiropractic checkup is always a good idea.
How soon will I see results?
Remember it did not happen overnight, thus it cannot be corrected over night either. Everyone heals at different rates; there is no mathematical formula to when someone can see results. Nevertheless, together we will work on getting the results you are seeking as soon as possible!
What Makes SLC Different?
Most chiropractors only provide adjustments, but I address the body’s muscles because I recognizes the importance they play in recovery and overall health. If your muscles remain contracted, they will continue to pull on your bones, moving them out of alignment & possibly causing pain, or decreased health! Thus, I will treat the muscles along with the bones!
How often do I need to come?
It depends; some people need to come more often than others. This may include coming in a few times a month until the initial problem is corrected and your body is maintaining the adjustments. It all depends on how your body responds, and how much effort you put in outside the office following recommendations.
I will not put you on a schedule of adjustments because I understand that everyone responds to care differently. After your first adjustment, I will recommend when I would like to see you next. From that point on, you and I will figure out how you are doing, and what works best for you to achieve your health goals.
Once I begin chiropractic care, do I have to go forever?
Not at all. Think of Chiropractic as the Dentist. Some people never see a dentist until they experience tooth pain. After having the issue corrected most people continue to see their dentist for a check ups’ to prevent tooth decay. That same idea is how Chiropractic works!
Once your initial problem is corrected, most people like to continue care on a maintenance/wellness level. Coming in every few months to make sure your body is in proper alignment can help you prevent future pain, and allow your body to work at its highest capability to overcome injury or illness.
